Chinese Pepper Steak Stir-Fry Recipe
Ingredients (2–3 servings)
For the Steak

300g beef steak (sirloin or flank), thinly sliced

1 tbsp soy sauce
-
1 tsp cornflour
-
1 tsp oyster sauce
-
½ tsp sugar
-
½ tsp sesame oil (optional)
Vegetables
-
1 green bell pepper, sliced
-
1 red bell pepper, sliced
-
1 small onion, sliced
-
2–3 garlic cloves, minced
-
1 tsp ginger, minced
Stir-Fry Sauce
-
2 tbsp soy sauce
-
1 tbsp oyster sauce
-
1 tbsp hoisin sauce
-
½ cup water or beef broth
-
1 tsp cornflour (mixed with 1 tbsp water)
-
Pinch of black pepper
-
½ tsp sugar (optional)
For Cooking
-
1–2 tbsp oil
Instructions
1. Marinate the Beef

Mix sliced beef with soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, cornflour, and sesame oil.

Let rest for 10–20 minutes.
2. Prepare the Sauce
In a bowl, whisk together:

Soy sauce
-
Oyster sauce
-
Hoisin sauce
-
Water/broth
-
Black pepper
-
Cornflour slurry
Set aside.
3. Stir-Fry

Heat oil in a wok on high flame.

Sear beef for 2–3 minutes until browned. Remove.

Add a little more oil and stir-fry:

Garlic
-
Ginger
-
Onion
-
Bell peppers
for 2–3 minutes (keep them slightly crunchy).

4. Combine
-
Add beef back into the wok.
-
Pour in the sauce.
-
Stir and cook for 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats everything.
Serve With
