🧺 Ingredients

For the Wings

  • 1 kg (2.2 lb) chicken wings

  • 1 tbsp baking powder (IMPORTANT for crispiness)

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • ½ tsp garlic powder

  • ½ tsp onion powder


Sticky Glaze (Classic Sweet-Savory)

  • 3 tbsp honey or brown sugar

  • 2 tbsp hot sauce (optional for heat)

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp melted butter

  • 1 tsp garlic (minced)

  • 1 tsp vinegar or lemon juice


👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Prep the wings

  1. Pat wings very dry with paper towels (crucial step).

  2. In a large bowl, toss wings with:

    • Baking powder

    • Salt

    • Black pepper

    • Paprika

    • Garlic & onion powder

👉 The baking powder helps render fat and makes the skin crispy (no baking soda!).


2️⃣ Bake the wings (Oven Method)

  1. Preheat oven to 220°C (425°F).

  2. Line a tray with foil and place a wire rack on top.

  3. Arrange wings skin-side up, not touching.

  4. Bake for:

    • 25 minutes, flip

    • 20 more minutes until golden & crisp


3️⃣ Make the glaze

  • In a small saucepan, combine all glaze ingredients.

  • Simmer on low heat for 3–5 minutes until glossy.

  • Taste and adjust sweetness or spice.


4️⃣ Toss & caramelize

  1. Remove wings from oven.

  2. Brush or toss wings generously in glaze.

  3. Return to oven for 5–8 minutes until sticky and slightly charred.


🔥 Optional Cooking Methods

Air Fryer

  • 200°C (390°F)

  • Cook 20 minutes, flip halfway

  • Glaze + cook 5 more minutes

Deep Fry

  • Fry at 180°C (350°F) for 10–12 minutes

  • Toss in glaze immediately


🍽 Serving Ideas

  • Serve with celery & carrot sticks

  • Ranch or blue cheese dip

  • Sprinkle chopped parsley on top

  • Extra crispy? Chill seasoned wings uncovered in the fridge for 1 hour before baking.

  • Like smoky flavor? Add ½ tsp smoked paprika.
