🥔 Ingredients
Meat & Veg
4 beef portions (sirloin, chuck steak, or beef medallions, ~6 oz / 170 g each)
1½ lb (700 g) baby potatoes, halved or quartered
1 small onion, sliced (optional but recommended)
Fresh parsley or thyme (for garnish)
Seasoning
2 tsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
1 tsp paprika
½ tsp garlic powder (or 2 fresh cloves, minced)
½ tsp dried thyme or rosemary
For Juiciness
2 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp butter, cut into cubes
¼ cup beef broth (or water)
🔪 Prep
Preheat oven to 400°F / 205°C
(or prep grill for medium-high heat)Cut 4 large sheets of aluminum foil (heavy-duty if possible)
Toss potatoes with:
Olive oil
Half the salt, pepper, paprika, and herbs
🧱 Assemble the Foil Packets
Place potatoes in the center of each foil sheet
Add onion slices (if using)
Place beef on top
Season beef with remaining salt, pepper, paprika, garlic, and herbs
Add:
A small cube of butter on top of each steak
1–2 tbsp beef broth per packet
Seal foil tightly, folding edges upward to trap steam
🔥 Cook
Oven Method
Place packets on a baking tray
Bake 40–45 minutes
For browning: open packets and broil 3–5 minutes
Grill Method
Grill over indirect heat 35–40 minutes
Flip packets halfway
Beef should be fork-tender, potatoes soft and buttery.

Let packets rest 5 minutes
Open carefully (hot steam!)
