Ingredients

For the Dough (Deep Dish Style)

  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) instant yeast

  • 1 tbsp sugar

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ¼ cup olive oil (plus extra for greasing)

  • 1 ¼ cups warm water

For the Meat Filling

  • 1 lb ground beef

  • ½ lb Italian sausage (optional for extra flavor)

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 1 green bell pepper, diced

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning

  • Salt & black pepper to taste

For the Sauce

  • 1 ½ cups pizza sauce (store-bought or homemade)

  • ½ tsp chili flakes (optional for spice)

For the Toppings

  • 2 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese

  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese (for richness)

  • Pepperoni slices

  • Pickled jalapeños (optional, for heat)

  • Extra cooked bacon bits (optional)


Instructions

  1. Make the Dough

    • In a large bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.

    • Add flour, salt, and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.

    • Knead on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

    • Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour (until doubled).

  2. Cook the Meat Filling

    • Heat a skillet, add ground beef and sausage. Cook until browned.

    • Add onion, garlic, bell pepper, paprika, Italian seasoning, salt & pepper.

    • Cook until softened and well combined. Drain excess fat and set aside.

  3. Assemble the Pizza

    • Preheat oven to 220°C (425°F).

    • Grease a deep 9-inch springform pan or cast-iron skillet.

    • Roll out dough to fit pan, with edges coming up the sides.

    • Spread a thin layer of pizza sauce at the base.

    • Sprinkle a little cheese, then add the meat mixture evenly.

    • Add another light layer of sauce over the meat.

    • Cover with the rest of the mozzarella + cheddar.

    • Top with pepperoni slices and jalapeños.

  4. Bake

    • Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes, until crust is golden and cheese is bubbling.

    • Let cool for 5–10 minutes before slicing (so it holds together).
