Air Fryer Blooming Sweet Potatoes
Crispy edges • Caramelized sweetness • Buttery-soft inside
⭐ Ingredients
-
2 medium sweet potatoes
-
1–2 tbsp olive oil (or melted butter)
-
½–1 tsp salt
-
1 tsp cinnamon sugar (or cinnamon + a little brown sugar)
-
Optional: honey, maple syrup, or vanilla yogurt for serving
🔪 Instructions
1. Prep the potatoes
-
Wash sweet potatoes well.
-
Slice crosswise, about ¼ inch apart, BUT don’t cut all the way through (like a blooming onion).
2. Season
-
Brush the whole potato generously with olive oil or melted butter.
-
Sprinkle with salt and cinnamon sugar, making sure it gets into the cuts.
3. Microwave (to soften the inside)
-
Place on a microwave-safe plate.
-
Microwave 4–6 minutes, until fork-tender but not mushy.
4. Air fry
-
Transfer to air fryer basket.
-
Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 12–15 minutes
— until edges get crispy, caramelized, and “flower” open.
5. Serve
-
Drizzle with honey or maple syrup if you like.
-
Serve hot — they’re best right out of the fryer!
