Air Fryer Blooming Sweet Potatoes

Air Fryer Blooming Sweet Potatoes

Crispy edges • Caramelized sweetness • Buttery-soft inside

Ingredients

  • 2 medium sweet potatoes

  • 1–2 tbsp olive oil (or melted butter)

  • ½–1 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp cinnamon sugar (or cinnamon + a little brown sugar)

  • Optional: honey, maple syrup, or vanilla yogurt for serving

🔪 Instructions

1. Prep the potatoes

  • Wash sweet potatoes well.

  • Slice crosswise, about ¼ inch apart, BUT don’t cut all the way through (like a blooming onion).

2. Season

  • Brush the whole potato generously with olive oil or melted butter.

  • Sprinkle with salt and cinnamon sugar, making sure it gets into the cuts.

3. Microwave (to soften the inside)

  • Place on a microwave-safe plate.

  • Microwave 4–6 minutes, until fork-tender but not mushy.

4. Air fry

  • Transfer to air fryer basket.

  • Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 12–15 minutes
    — until edges get crispy, caramelized, and “flower” open.

5. Serve

  • Drizzle with honey or maple syrup if you like.

  • Serve hot — they’re best right out of the fryer!
