Air Fryer “Poached” Eggs (No Boil Method)

Air Fryer “Poached” Eggs (No Boil Method)

This isn’t traditional poaching in swirling water—but the texture is very close: tender whites + jammy or runny yolk.

What You’ll Need

  • 1–4 large eggs

  • Heat-safe ramekins or small oven-safe bowls

  • Hot water

  • Cooking spray or oil

  • Salt & pepper (to finish)

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Preheat the Air Fryer

  • Set air fryer to 375°F (190°C)

  • Preheat for 3–5 minutes

Preheating matters—cold air fryer = overcooked whites.

2. Prep the Ramekins

  • Lightly grease each ramekin with cooking spray or oil

  • Crack one egg per ramekin

  • Carefully pour 2–3 tablespoons of hot water into each ramekin

    • The water should partially surround the egg, not fully submerge it

💡 Hot tap water is fine—no need to boil it.

3. Air Fry

  • Place ramekins gently in the air fryer basket

  • Cook at 375°F (190°C) for:

DonenessTime
Very runny yolk6 minutes
Soft / jammy yolk7 minutes
Medium yolk8 minutes
Fully set9 minutes

⚠️ Air fryers vary—start checking at 6 minutes your first time.

4. Remove & Drain

  • Carefully lift ramekins out (they’ll be hot)

  • Use a slotted spoon to lift the egg out

  • Gently blot the bottom on a paper towel to remove excess water

5. Season & Serve

  • Sprinkle with salt and freshly cracked pepper

  • Optional extras:

    • Chili oil 🌶️

    • Everything bagel seasoning

    • Flaky sea salt

    • Parmesan shavings

    • Fresh herbs

Pro Tips for Perfect Results

  • Use fresh eggs → firmer whites

  • Don’t overcrowd the basket—airflow matters

  • If whites spread too much, add ½ tsp vinegar to the water (optional)

  • For extra tender whites, cover ramekins loosely with foil for first 4 minutes

Best Ways to Serve

  • On avocado toast 🥑

  • Over sourdough with butter

  • On top of ramen or grain bowls

  • With smoked salmon + cream cheese toast
