🧀 Oven-Baked Cheesy Toast Sandwiches

🍞 Ingredients (makes 6 sandwiches)
12 slices white or sandwich bread
2 cups grated cheese
Best combo: mozzarella + cheddar
Or use just one if you prefer
3 tbsp butter (softened)
2 tbsp mayonnaise (optional but highly recommended – makes it extra creamy)
½ tsp salt (adjust to taste)
½ tsp black pepper
½ tsp garlic powder (optional)
½ tsp dried oregano or mixed herbs (optional)
1–2 tbsp milk or cream (for extra meltiness)
🔥 Instructions
1️⃣ Preheat & Prep
Preheat oven to 180°C / 350°F
Line a baking tray with parchment paper
2️⃣ Make the Cheese Filling
In a bowl, mix:
Grated cheese
Mayonnaise
Milk or cream
Salt, pepper
Garlic powder & herbs (if using)
👉 The mixture should be creamy, not dry.
3️⃣ Assemble the Sandwiches
Lay out 6 slices of bread
Spread a generous layer of cheese mixture on each
Top with remaining bread slices
Lightly butter the top side only of each sandwich
(You can butter both sides if you want extra crispiness)
4️⃣ Bake
Place sandwiches on the tray
Bake for 10–12 minutes
Flip carefully
Bake another 5–8 minutes until:
Tops are golden
Cheese is melted and bubbling
👉 For extra browning, switch to broil/grill for 1–2 minutes at the end (watch closely!)
5️⃣ Rest & Serve
Let them rest 2–3 minutes (cheese sets slightly)
Slice in half if you like
