Sizzling Chinese Pepper Steak with Onions

⭐ Ingredients

  • 250 g (½ lb) lean beef (sirloin or flank), thinly sliced

  • 1 large onion, sliced

  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced

  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 tsp ginger, minced

  • 1–2 tsp sesame oil or olive oil

  • 2 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce

  • 1 tsp oyster sauce (optional)

  • ½ tsp black pepper (freshly ground)

  • 1 tsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water (slurry)

  • 1 tsp rice vinegar (optional)

  • 1–2 spring onions, sliced for garnish


🥣 Instructions

1. Marinate the beef

  • Toss beef slices with 1 tbsp soy sauce, black pepper, and cornstarch slurry.

  • Let sit 10 minutes.

2. Stir-fry veggies

  • Heat oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat.

  • Stir-fry onions and bell peppers 3–4 minutes until slightly tender but still crisp.

  • Remove and set aside.

3. Cook beef

  • In the same pan, stir-fry beef slices 3–5 minutes until browned but not overcooked.

4. Combine

  • Return vegetables to the pan.

  • Add remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, garlic, ginger, and rice vinegar.

  • Stir well 1–2 minutes until everything is coated and sizzling.

5. Serve

  • Garnish with sliced spring onions.

  • Serve hot with steamed rice, cauliflower rice, or noodles.
