Crispy on the outside, soft and buttery inside — these blooming sweet potatoes open like a flower and soak up all the delicious seasonings!

🧾 Ingredients (Serves 2–4)

  • 2 large sweet potatoes

  • 2 tbsp melted butter or olive oil

  • 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup

  • ½ tsp cinnamon (optional but amazing)

  • ½ tsp smoked paprika

  • Salt & pepper, to taste

  • Optional toppings:

    • Sour cream or Greek yogurt

    • Chives

    • Crumbled feta

    • Pecans or walnuts

    • Hot honey

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Prep the Sweet Potatoes

  • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) or air fryer to 400°F (200°C).

  • Peel sweet potatoes (optional).

  • Slice the potato vertically almost all the way through (don’t cut the bottom).

  • Rotate and slice again across to create a crosshatch “blooming” pattern.

2️⃣ Season

Mix melted butter (or oil), honey/maple syrup, paprika, cinnamon, salt, and pepper.
Brush generously over the sweet potatoes, making sure it gets between the cuts.

3️⃣ Bake or Air Fry

  • Oven: Bake 40–50 minutes until tender and blooming.

  • Air Fryer: Cook 20–25 minutes until soft in center and crispy at edges.

4️⃣ Finish & Serve

Drizzle more honey or butter.
Top with feta, nuts, chives, or a dollop of Greek yogurt.

⭐ Tips

  • Microwave the sweet potatoes for 3–4 minutes before slicing to make cutting easier.

  • Add hot honey or chili flakes for a spicy-sweet version.

  • Perfect as a side dish, holiday dish, or TikTok-style trending food.
