Crispy Air Fryer Whole Chicken
Description
This air fryer whole chicken is insanely juicy on the inside with beautifully crispy, golden skin. It tastes like rotisserie chicken but cooks faster and right at home. Minimal prep, big flavor — perfect for weeknight dinners or meal prep.
Ingredients

1 whole chicken (3–4 lb / 1.4–1.8 kg)

2 tbsp olive oil or melted butter

1 tsp salt

½ tsp black pepper

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp paprika (smoked if possible)

½ tsp onion powder

Optional: thyme, rosemary, lemon, or poultry seasoning
Instructions

Prep the chicken
Pat the chicken completely dry with paper towels (this is key for crispy skin).
Remove giblets if included. -
Season
Rub the chicken all over with oil or butter.
Mix spices and coat evenly, including under the skin if possible. -
Preheat air fryer
Preheat to 360°F (182°C) for 3–5 minutes. -
Air fry
Place chicken breast-side down in the basket.
Cook for 30 minutes, then flip breast-side up and cook another 15–20 minutes. -
Check doneness
Internal temp should reach 165°F (74°C) at the thickest part of the breast. -
Rest & serve
Let rest for 10 minutes before carving to keep it juicy.
